6 Tips for Creating Window Displays

When you have a business, you want your business to attract people who are walking or driving by. Many times, this is done by creating eye-catching window displays. Below are six tips that you can use to decorate your store’s windows and bring more customers in.

1. Use Your Products to Tell Your Visual Story

Create a window display that will turn heads and get your business noticed using your goods that you sell. This can be very effective and it also can help people see what they can use your goods to do in their home.

2. Keep all Focal Points at Customers’ Eye level

Whether they’re hanging from your ceiling, stacked like a pyramid or they’re put on a pedestal you should make sure that your customers can see them without tilting their head or looking down. Stand outside the store and look into your store’s window. Mark your focal point on your window with tape. This is going to help you with determining where the display items should be placed so that passersby get maximum exposure.

3. Create One Focal Point

Think vertically and add height to your display. You could suspend some of the elements from your ceiling and put some tall items like a lamp into your display.

4. Make an Impression That’s Quick

You only have about 2.5 seconds in order to grab the attention of a shopper. So you should make sure that any display’s well-lit and attractive. Remember that if you don’t have the light on during the daytime, people who are walking by your store may not be able to see the items in it because of the glare.

5. Regularly Change Displays in Windows

If you’re busy you may not put this on the top of your priority list. But even when your display is well-crafted you should make sure that you are keeping it updated. You should make a change every couple of weeks. This can be as much as moving the merchandise around or changing something out. Of course, when the seasons change too you should update your window.

6. Turn Your Large Storefront Window into a Billboard

Get some window film that grabs the attention of passersby to decorate your window. These vinyl films are perforated and they look like huge posters when someone is driving past. But the effect that looks like a screen will allow natural light to come into your store. Businesses that have windows with large panes can easily create murals that are eye-catching and that will attract those who are driving past.

Remember that you should appeal to the senses of your customers. Think about the things that attract you to other businesses and use those same concepts to create your own perfect display. You can also ask your friends and family members what they like to see when they go to a store and something in the window catches their eyes. It’s always good to have a second opinion.

3 Reasons Having a Business Sign is Necessary

If you have a business, you know that you want to get customers into your front door. But did you know one of the best ways you can do that is with a sign?

But what do business signs do for your company? Below are some of the reasons why you want to have a sign for your business.

1. Attract the Attention of Customers

First and foremost, a sign will get everyone’s attention. For example, say you have a popular burger franchise with a large M on it. That sign with the large M tells everyone that they can get great burgers and fries there. Without that sign it could just be another burger joint.

2. Give Customers Information

Customers want information, especially when it’s going to save them money. So, signs are a great way that you can announce a big sale that you are having. But signs can also give them other information, such as where the restrooms are, the specials of the day if you are a restaurant, where the different items are in the store, and where disabled parking is in the parking lot. A sign can also tell customers when your business is opened or closed.

3. Give Customers Direction

Sometimes customers need directions on where to go. For example, when you have a sandwich shop, you might have one spot where you go to order and another spot where you go to pay for your order.

Signs can also tell customers where to stand to wait, either for help or a register. You see these directional systems at big box stores and pharmacies. Directional signs help the checkout process run smoothly. Thus limiting the frustration with your clients during the final step in the sales funnel..the sale!

No matter how big or small your business is, it’s always good to have at least one or two signs to help your customers out. When your customers are happy and know where to go, they are more likely to come back and shop at your business again. Signs make you think about what you want as a customer and giving it to your own customers.

7 Things to Consider When Creating a Sign for Your Business

Designing a sign for your business?

When you have a small business, one of the things that you will want to have is a sign.

But the right sign can actually make or break your business, since this is what encourages people to come into your store…or walk on by.

So you want to choose the right type of sign for your business.

Below are seven things that you should keep in mind when you are creating a sign for your small business.

#1: Color

A very powerful and important branding tool when you design your business sign is color. You want to choose a color that is appropriate to the type of product or business you have. If you are selling boats to men, you don’t want to have a sign that is pink. There are also certain emotions tied to each color.

  • Yellow – warm, happy, fun and positive
  • Orange – trustworthy, energetic, and friendly
  • Red – youthful, bold, and exciting
  • Pink/purple – wise, imaginative and creative
  • Blue – peaceful, strong and dependable
  • Green – healthy, growth and fresh
  • Black, white, or silver – neutral, calm and balance

#2: Typography

Remember that everyone who sees your sign is not going to take the time to actually read it. Based on its size and the location of your sign, the font on the sign should be big enough for people to read along with being clear-cut and clean. Don’t choose curly, fancy typography. You should also choose a font that reflects your service or product you’re offering.

#3: Contrast

The sign for your business needs to have the right contrast and balance in between your colors, graphics and font. This is going to make your sign a lot more readable and let you sell the product or service successfully. But don’t overload customers with a lot of information. You want to give them just enough.

#4: Wording / Copy

A customer will usually be sold on your product or service when they are able to see themselves using it every day. This can be a great advantage to your business. When you use words such as “your” or “you” to your sign, you’re able to connect with your customers and draw them in.

#5: Material

One of the things that you want to be careful of is choosing the right material for the sign. When you select the sign material, you want to remember where you will put it and what the conditions it will be in. Based on its location, you can choose digital or print materials for your sign. A lot of people use corrugated plastic and vinyl when they are creating an outdoor or indoor sign.

#6: Location

Another important thing to consider is where you will put your sign. Think about putting your sign high or putting it where a lot of people are going to see it. You could also make a lot of different versions of the sign with the same type of design so that your business can be recognized easily.

Remember that there also might be regulations that you have to follow regarding the kinds of images or messages your sign has.

#7: Have Fun Doing It!

You don’t want your sign to be boring. When you have a boring sign, people probably won’t want anything to do with your business. You shouldn’t be afraid to have some fun with the sign and add your business’ personality into it. Add some tasteful jokes, puns or double meanings. You want your business to stand out and be memorable to people.

These are the things that you should remember when you are creating your sign for your small business. They will help you with drawing your customers in and being a success.

7 Good Reasons to Wrap a Vehicle Rather than Paint It

Looking to make your car stand out in the parking lot or on the highway?

Whether it’s for your business or because you want a new look for your car, there are two options: wrapping it or painting it.

But which one is better?

Below are seven reasons why wrapping your vehicle is a better choice than painting it.

#1: Cost

When you are painting your car, the cost can go from $3,000 to $10,000 if it’s a quality job. This is based on the paint shop, the paint quality, and the color that you choose. Films that are professionally installed with really high quality materials can range from $2,500 to $5,000 and can last anywhere from 4 to 10 years based on the wrap that you use. This is obviously a lot less costly and can last you a lot longer.

#2: Resale Value

When you are going to resell your car, the car having the original paint from the manufacturer is going to help you with having a higher resale value. This is going to give you a better bargaining point than if you were to have a lower priced paint job. If your preference or company wants an exotic color that is really bright, you may not find someone who is looking for that color. So you can wrap your car with that color and then when it comes time to sell it the wrap can be removed.

#3: Endless Design Options

When you are purchasing a car, you may have your heart set on a certain color, for your business, but maybe that car doesn’t come in that color, or maybe there aren’t any for sale. That’s not a problem if you use a wrap. If down the road you want to change your color, it’s really easy to do that and have the car that you want.

#4: Time for Installation

When you choose to paint your car, you’ll have to find other transportation for as long as two weeks, maybe even longer. When you choose to wrap the vehicle, it can be done much quicker.

#5: Protection

When you are wrapping your car, the car will have every inch of your paint protected from weathering and natural hazards. It also won’t be affected by prolonged exposure to the sun. It’s very durable and will act like a shield for your car. You don’t have to worry about natural hazards like chips from stones and abrasion.

#6: Easy to Maintain

You don’t have to wax the wrap to make it look good. Unlike a paint job, it’s a lot easier to maintain your vehicle. They are going to look brand-new just using water and soap.

#7: Long Lasting and Safely Removed

When you have your car wrapped, you will find that it’s going to last for a long time. The length of time that it will last depends on whether it’s kept in a garage or it is left outside, because it will fade faster if it’s left in the sun. But when it comes time to remove it, it can be removed easily without affecting the paint job of the vehicle.

As you can see, there are many advantages to having your vehicle wrapped rather than painting it. It gives you a lot of options, its less expensive and it takes a lot less time to name a few. Think about what you are expecting from your vehicle and then see which one is best.

10 Commonly Believed Myths About Vehicle Wraps

So you might be wondering if it’s a good idea to invest in vehicle wraps for your company.

When you own a business, you know how important it is to advertise. But you also want to ensure that you’re not going over budget and that you’re making it stretch.

Whether you are wrapping one or a whole fleet, below are common myths about vehicle wraps that are floating around.

Myth #1: They’re costlier than paint

This is one of the reasons that many business owners decide against it. But wraps are a lot more affordable when it comes to price than paint.

Myth #2: The wrap is damaging to paint

When a wrap is installed professionally, it can protect your vehicle’s paint job along with the exposed metal. This is going to help you with getting a better price when it comes to selling the vehicle.

Myth #3: You can’t wrap leased vehicles

A lot of companies wrap leased vehicles. The wrap will bring that vehicle beneath the brand of your company and it can be removed easily when turning in your vehicle. But check the lease agreement before you do it to be certain.

Myth #4: No one will notice a wrapped vehicle

Mobile advertising is something that people notice. A wrapped vehicle is able to snag anywhere from 30,000 to 70,000 impressions each day. This cost is also one time, so you are going to have a high return on investment. Wraps can also drive traffic to your website when they are used right.

Myth #5: It’s something I can do

A lot of people think it’s something they can do on their own. But putting on, and taking off, wraps should be done by someone who is professionally trained. They’ll know which material they should use and how to prepare the surface, trimming as well as heating. AN expert will understand the way to deal with installations and designs that are challenging. When you are investing in a vehicle wrap… do it right.

Myth #6: You have to hand-wash vehicle wraps

Even though hand washing is best to clean the wrap, it doesn’t have to be done that way. You can run it through a brushless car wash, if the wrap was installed professionally. You should avoid any car washes that use a brush or a pressure washer.

Myth #7: Wrapping a fleet’s too hard

This isn’t true. A lot of the wrap companies love doing fleets and are good at it – trailers, vans, cars, trucks, boats or a combination of the above. It’s also a great idea to wrap your fleet since it’s an effective advertising tool. Your business can saturate the market, giving you a huge ROI, and increased viewer recall.

Myth #8: There’s no new creative ideas

You can make a vehicle wrap look any way that you want. If you’re having trouble deciding on something cool and unique, the company that is wrapping your vehicle can help. Most sign companies have graphic designers who are very creative at making your vehicle stand out.

Myth #9: The entire vehicle has to be wrapped

A lot of people think that they have to wrap their whole vehicle. But this just isn’t’ true. A lot of the business owners do partial wraps like their trunk, roof, hood or doors.

Myth #10: The wrap won’t last a long time

Based on the installation quality and the way that the vehicle’s maintained, a vehicle wrap may last anywhere from 4-6 years. Think of the impressions you can make on your local market in that window of time. We are talking millions of impressions for fractions of a cent.

These are some of the most common myths that people believe when it comes to vehicle wraps. If you are searching for an affordable way that you can advertise your business, no matter how big or small it is, a vehicle wrap is a great choice. The price is right and the return on your investment will be more than you ever imagined. It’s an investment that you will not regret.

Common Problems with Neon, Fluorescent and Led Lighted Signs

When you have a business, one of the most important things that will draw customers to your business is your electric sign. Unfortunately, there are problems that you will find based on the type of electric sign that you have. Below we look at the three types of electric signs and the common problems that business owners run into.

Fluorescent Light Problems

Fluorescent signs are one of the most popular types of electric signs and they have been around for a long time. Below are some of the most common problems that business owners have with fluorescent signs.

Improper Spacing of Lamps

Until the most recent advances that have been made in LEDs, most of the cabinet signs were lit using fluorescent lighting. It’s important to find a contractor who understands the design of sign lighting so that you avoid visual issues in the future. You want to ensure that your sign is just the right temperature. When you place the lamps too close to one another or too close to the sign’s face, it will cause hot spots and make your sign lighting uneven.

On the other hand, you don’t want to put your lamps over 12” apart from your surface. This will create cool spots meaning that your sign’s hard to read or uneven. Lamps should be a minimum of four inches from the face of the sign. That’s the reason that faces of flat signs require deeper cabinets when compared with signs that have faces that are pan-formed. If the sign that you have was designed poorly, retrofitting your lamp configuration or faces can fix the issue.

Lighting Outages

One of the biggest problems is that your sign simply isn’t lighting up. This could include things like:

  • Sign doesn’t light fully
  • Sign flickers
  • Sign is completely out
  • Photo cell or timer issues

Sometimes fluorescent lamps burn out. The average lifespan of a fluorescent lamp is 12,000 hours or approximately 2.75 years used during the night when you are using T-12 HO kind of lamps that are usually used in exterior signs. Lamp ballasts and sockets, and eventually wiring, also will wear out as time passes so remember you’ll have to do regular maintenance. A project manager from a sign contractor can help you with figuring out your sign’s maintenance yearly budget.

Neon Sign Problems

Lighting systems with neon signs came out in the 1920s and they’ve been trumped by the LED systems that are more energy-efficient and reliable. Neon’s high voltage and because of safety concerns, the only ones who can work on them are professional electricians or sign technicians. Here are some of the common problems with neon signs.

  • Sign flickers when it’s turned on and then goes out. This could mean the neon is burned out or broken.
  • One of the neon section’s end is fine but the other’s dim or out. This could mean that you have to repump the gas or the neon tube needs replacing.

Both incandescent and neon lighting are great to retrofit to LED, however, neon’s the best for fast operation and saving on repair costs.

LED Lighting Problems

LED lighting offers an average of 100K hours which equals more than 11 hours of 24 hours a day usage. This means that it’s gives business owners the very longest life when it comes to lighted signs. It’s rare that one or a LED string will go out.

However, sometimes the power supply fails. When you compare the operating and maintenance costs of the other options, LED is the one that is going to save the most amount of money. It will also save you a lot of headaches.

When you are looking at sign options, you may want to look for the least expensive options for LED. But the top systems are the best options to help make sure that your sign is lasting a long time. Even though they may be less expensive at first, the off brands can create results that are less than stellar.

Remember that when you have a business, one of the ways that people are going to know your business is there is your lighted sign. So make sure that you choose the one that is best for your business so that your customers can find you easily and that your business looks professional.

If you have a business or you’re planning to open one, one of the things that you have to do is to think about what kind of signs you will be using. An attractive, creative sign will help your business look professional and stand out from other businesses.

According to the website,, a customer is more likely to make a purchase from businesses they’ve heard of. So that’s why a sign is important.

Here are some of the things about signs that make them important.

1. Functional

Signs are silent salespeople for the business. Signs on the outside give your business attention and help with differentiating it from the other types of businesses that are around them. Signs on the inside help your customers with finding the merchandise and can sometimes encourage impulse purchases when they are added to a special display.

5 Essential Signs for Restaurant Owners

5 Essential Signs for Restaurant Owners

When you have a restaurant, you have many things that you need to consider, such as food, hours, etc. But one of the most important things that you need to remember is that signs are an essential part of owning a restaurant.

Below are five different signs that every restaurant should have.

1. Building Sign

Your building sign is the first thing that people are going to see when they are close to your restaurant. It announces your logo and the name of the restaurant. This sign should have dimensional letters, channel letters, or box cabinet. Even though each of these sign options has advantages, an illuminated marker is a good idea since it will alert customers to your restaurant’s location after dark. Channel letters with a light behind them are great for more upscale restaurants.

2. Banners

Banner signs are appealing to customers and they will announce something new or unique. Banners can advertise sales, new products, under new management, or grand openings. They are a great option when you have special seasonal foods on the menu. They often will bring in customers, when people see banner ads, they know that something special is happening.

3. Murals and Paintings

No one wants to sit and look at blank walls when they are in a restaurant. It’s a good idea to choose wall mural décor for your restaurant that matches the type of food you are serving. For example, if you have a Mexican restaurant, you can portray things like cacti and colorful costumes. If you are a Chinese restaurant, why not include the Great Wall of China?

4. Framed Posters

Have a particular dish or dishes that people love? Take a picture of those dishes and make posters of them! It is sure to get your customers’ mouths watering. Make sure that you are taking pictures of the fresh ingredients and colorful fruits and vegetables. They’re also great for showing how you approach preparing the meals, which will enhance the enjoyment of your diners.

5. Menu Board

There are two types of menu boards. One is the type that’s used by fast food restaurants and the other is the one that is used for displaying specials of the day. Both types are important. The former displays the items that you offer and the prices. The latter displays the specials that you have right now and their prices.

Don’t Forget: ADA Signs

The law’s intent when it comes to ADA signs is to make sure that people who are disabled have access to services and goods and that the signs have the proper identification including size, character, color contrast, tactile copy, and sign location so that the signs are readable.

These are the main types of signs that you will need when you have a restaurant. Not all of the items are used constantly, but most of them are. The point is that you want to get people excited about your food and make them want to try it. This combination of signs will help you to do that.

Boat Wrap vs. Vehicle Wrap: What’s the Difference?

Boat Wrap vs. Vehicle Wrap: What's the Difference?

Boat Wrap vs. Vehicle Wrap: What’s the Difference?

A lot of people have gotten into wrapping cars and trucks. But what about other types of things, like boats? Wrapping a boat can help your business just like wrapping a vehicle can.

Key Differences in Wrapping a Boat

Although there are things that are similar between wrapping a vehicle and wrapping a boat, there are also a few differences that you should know about before the design is printed. First, your boat will experience elements not seen on land like continued exposure to water (and sun) at very high speeds.

Below are a few other key differences:

  • Waterproof material
  • Continued exposure to harsh elements
  • Your boat has deeper curves
  • Your boat has exposed hardware
  • Your boat is not a box truck, so it requires a custom template

Types of Boats We Wrap

It’s quite possible we can wrap your boat, even if its not on this list. We only require a hull! So if you have questions give us a call today!

  • Aluminum (John) boats
  • Jet skis / Personal watercraft
  • Commercial fishing boats
  • Flats boats
  • Bass boats
  • Sail boats
  • Cigarette racing boats
  • Large yachts
  • Barges and many more

Vinyl Wrap Material

It’s also important to know that just any type of material can’t be used.

You have to use different material than you would on a vehicle or else it might quickly fail. Keep in mind that a boat will have water beating against it constantly and it can impact your installation. This means taking steps to help with ensuring the vinyl is going to last through at least one boating season.

Here are a few steps that we take when we are preparing your boat wrap so that you will get a much clearer picture of the process of boat wrapping.

Finding or Building Your Template

When it comes to vehicles, a lot of vinyl installers will use a template based on the car’s model and make. This will serve as a great foundation when it comes to designing a wrap. This isn’t going to work with boat wrapping.

The most difficult part when it comes to boat wrapping is to get a template that is accurate of your boat with the measurements. Although the boat is going to look flat when you first look at it, there is a lot more going on than you thought.

All this extra room has to be considered when we’re creating your design. Even when we are being very careful creating the template, the design may not be exact when it’s printed out.

Selecting Your Material

After we’ve created the template, we have to find the right material for your boat wrap. For the most part, you’ll need cast vinyl that is digitally printable. There are a lot of different types of vinyl that you can select from in this broad category. But for the most part, you can’t use the same material.

When you’re placing this type of vinyl on, it’s much easier in the application. But there’s a danger that might occur. This vinyl type is a great option for vehicle wraps. However, when the channels aren’t properly sealed off when its used for boat wrap water may be running through the channels and cause the graphic to rip off. A better choice is reposition-able vinyl since it offers a certain degree of flexibility while letting you avoid the problem of water inside the channels.

Cleaning Your Boat

When you are preparing your boat’s surface, it’s a good idea to wash it. It’s also essential to remove any type of hardware, such as j-hooks and handles on its back that you use for towing. If there were decals on the boat previously, they also need to be taken off.

Sometimes boat wraps require removing the rails which runs around the boat’s perimeter. It’s advisable to pull out the silicone that’s existing, then tuck the graphic in, before you re-silicone it, since the water will really hit the area violently. You want to ensure the area’s sealed and when you pull out your rub rail to reseal it, this will help ensure that it’s tight.

Even if the boat is really clean, you shouldn’t put wrap below your boat’s water line. This will help you ensure that you aren’t getting water beneath the edges. You don’t want the wrap’s edges lifting while you’re cruising in the water or because it’s been exposed to sunlight extensively.

ADA Signs: Does Your Business (Legally) Need Them?

ADA Signs: Does Your Business (Legally) Need Them?

ADA Signs: Does Your Business (Legally) Need Them?

What is ADA?

The ADA stands for the American with Disabilities Act and it was implemented back in the 1990s so that people who are disabled have rights that are protected. The law’s intent when it comes to signs is to make sure that people who are disabled have access to services and goods and that the signs have the proper identification including size, character, color contrast, tactile copy, and sign location so that the signs are readable.

The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) was implemented in the early 1990s to protect the civil rights of the disabled. The intent of the law as it pertains to signage is to ensure access to goods and services by mandating identification standards including character, size, color contrast, sign location and tactile copy for readability.

Do All Signs Have to be ADA?

Not all of the signs need to be compliant. The signs that are exempt include building directories, company logos and names, menus, row and seat designations in the assembly areas, signs in the parking facilities (with the exception of signs for accessible parking spaces), occupant names and the temporary signs that will only be used for a week or less.

What types of signs need to follow the ADA guidelines?

All of the permanent spaces and rooms need to have a sign that is ADA that provides identification. The safety signs that identify the doors at discharge, stairwells, and passage ways need to be compliant with the ADA. This includes Braille copy and raised characters. Flag-mounted, wall-mounted, and overhead signs have to follow the ADA guidelines but don’t need tactile copy.

Do the ADA signs need a number or name for identifying spaces?

Rooms that have equipment that can’t be moved easily, such as restrooms and kitchens, are identified by their names. If it’s a space that might change, like a cubicle or office, alphanumerical addresses will be fine.

Where should I install ADA signs related to doors?

When you are mounting signs that are ADA compliant, the location of the sign is related to the swing path and type of the door.

  • Single door – the sign has to be next to the door on the side of the latch.
  • Double doors with one side active – the sign needs to be placed on the door that isn’t active.
  • Double doors with both sides active – the sign should be placed on the right of the door on the right.
  • Push doors – The sign should be on the on the doors’ push side without devices that hold the doors open and that have closers.

If the door doesn’t have enough wall space on the single door’s latch side or on the double door’s right side, the sign should be mounted on the adjacent wall that is closest.

The mounting spot for this type of sign should be so that someone can approach within three inches of the sign without running into a protruding object or standing where the door will swing.

Basic ADA Sign Requirements

One thing that you have to remember is that all of the ADA compliant signs have to contain Braille so that people who are blind can read them. But this is only part of the requirements. Another thing that a sign must have is that it has to have a certain level of contrast within the colors which are being used upon the signs.

A third thing that is important to note is that there are really strict guidelines regarding fonts that signs use.

For example, signs have to feather letters in uppercase letters. The letters have to be in the sans serif font. In addition, all of the ADA signs must have characters and backgrounds that don’t cause a glare. These types of rules are so that the signs are easy to read and very visible.

Trouble for Not Complying

When a business doesn’t comply with these mandates regarding the ADA signs, it could mean that they are facing a large fine or legal action that is more severe. But any types of actions like litigation or files won’t be placed on the business immediately.

The law states that businesses that aren’t in compliance with the requirements will be able to rectify the problems in a timely manner that won’t also cause the business unnecessary hardship. This is designed to help the newer businesses that have launched by their office isn’t set up with the required signs. This way the business has wiggle room so that they are compliant.

Along with trouble with the law, depending on your business you also might also get some backlash from your customers. This can hurt your business and can create a problem for your business besides the legal ramifications. Offering ADA signs in your business is both legally and morally responsible, and it helps create a feeling of good will towards all your customers and employees.

Best Graphic Design File Formats for Printing

Best Graphic Design File Formats for Printing

Best Graphic Design File Formats for Printing

When you are planning to print out your graphics, you want to make sure that they look wonderful. But what is the best choice for your graphic format to give you the best results? Below are the five graphic image formats and what they are best to use for when it comes to printing.

Best Files for Printing

When it comes to printing banners and signs your artwork should be in one of the following vectored formats.

  1. .AI: preferred choice
  2. .EPS: preferred choice
  3. .PDF: the above files can be saved as PDF

What are vector files?

Vector files such as AI and EPS can remain editable so you can open them back up in Illustrator and edit any text or other elements within the graphic. With images that contain text that are saved as a JPG, PNG or GIF, you would not be able to reopen and edit the text.

Worst files for signs and banners

Printing signs and vehicle wraps has a lot of requirements outside of printing your family picture at Walmart. Due to the need to make precise changes to graphics there are certain file types that do not allow editing after being saved.

  1. .GIF
  2. .TIFF
  3. .JPEG
  4. .PNG

The above mentioned files are not suitable for vehicle wraps and large format business sings. if you r file is saved in one of those formats contact your business printing professional.

What Happens if I don’t have a Vector File?

If your file is not vectored there is still hope! but it might cost additional resources and time. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish many of the above mentioned files can be traced and stored as a vectored image.

Common Types of Artwork Files

.AI – Vector File

Adobe Illustrator Artwork (AI) is a proprietary file format developed by Adobe Systems for representing single-page vector-based drawings in either the EPS or PDF formats. The .ai filename extension is used by Adobe Illustrator.

.EPS – Vector File

This file format is great for large banners and signs. EPS stands for Encapsulated Postscript and it’s one of the vector formats created for printing with imagesetters and Postscript printers. It’s thought to be the best graphic format choice when you are printing illustrations in high resolution. These files are made and edited in programs like CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator.

A vector graphic is a resolution-independent, scalable format made of individual shapes or objects. This type of graphic can be easily resized without quality loss, which makes them a great format for illustrations or logo designs that are used in more than one size.

Vector Files can be saved as a .PDF. But not all PDF’s are vector files. Confused? This is preferred for most of the files. It stands for Portable Document Format and it’s developed by Adobe to distribute platform-independent, compact documents. It captures the formatting information from a lot of applications for desktop publishing, which makes it possible to send the formatted documents to someone and then they’ll appear on the printer or monitor of the recipient the way they should.

It’s possible to work with Adobe Acrobat when you are creating PDF files and you’re able to view the files either using your web browser or Adobe Reader with the handy plugin for PDF Viewer.

.JPG (Preferred for images)

JPG is preferred when printing images. It’s best used when you are printing photographs but the files have to be really small. For example, when they are being used for email or websites. It uses something called lossy compression, which means that there is a loss to the quality.

Most of the other types of file formats when they are compressed don’t have a problem with losing quality. But this type of integrity requirement limits efficiency, which limits compressing the photo image’s data to just 10%-40% reduction.

.TIFF (Preferred for high resolution images)

TIFF is preferred for the images that are high resolution and it stands for Tagged Image File Format. It’s the industry standard that has been designed for handling bitmapped or raster images. They can be saved in many color formats and in different compression forms. TIFFs have lossless compression so that the image clarity and integrity is maintained and they’re often used in professional photography.

Bad for Printing – .PNG and .GIF

PNG stands for Portable Network Graphics and it was created as a powerful alternative to GIF. PNG files aren’t restricted to 256 colors and have a much better compression. You can save PNGs with a background that is transparent and this lets you put the image over another image without the outline.

GIF is Graphics Interchange Format and it’s a format that’s used for storing images with as many as 256 colors. The compression method is lossless and gives you an output that is higher quality. GIF files are often used in color images and logos. Although PNG are supported widely, GIF still is the one that’s most used.

Primarily both of these graphic types are used for web based and non printed projects. Primarily due to their low resolution.

Choose carefully when you are selecting your graphic format. This can affect the way that your graphics look when you are printing them out and affect the way that people think about your business. Make the best decision when it comes to your graphic format and you will get the best results in your business by impressing your customers and future customers.

If you have questions about what file extension you should use for your project contact your printer.

7 Benefits of Vehicle Wraps for Your Small Business

Naples Vehicle Wraps

When you want to effectively advertise your business, you want to make a first impression that is strong. One of the best ways to do it is through vehicle wraps. They are an extremely memorable way to spread the message about your business. They can be used on many different types of vehicles and they’re a wonderful tool for marketing and branding.

Below are some advantages to advertising with car wraps.

1. Attention Grabbing

Attractive and brightly colored vehicle wraps help with making your company’s vehicles stand out from the other vehicles. Drivers who are passing your company vehicles aren’t going to pay attention to those white vans that are next to them. But when you have a vehicle wrap on that van, it gets your vehicles and your business noticed. The wraps are very engaging and they make peoples’ eyes gravitate naturally to them.

2. Reach a Much Wider Audience

Based on the amount of vehicles you have, how often they’re driven and the distance they’re traveling every day, it’s possible to reach 10,000 to 100,000 or more people each month. You’re able to reach a much bigger audience using vehicle wraps as opposed to just about any other type of advertising. A lot of businesses gain their customers more from the vehicle wraps than websites.

3. Advertising that’s Non-Aggressive

Unlike print or radio advertisements that interrupt someone’s reading, a vehicle wrap will attract their attention without disturbing them. Potential customers are able to spot the message easily without being distracted significantly from their task. A customer will respond much better to a form of advertising that isn’t in their face. A lot of people enjoy looking at vehicle wraps in spite of the advertising.

4. Become Mobile

Vehicles wrapped with vehicle wraps are going into the potential customers’ views rather than having you waiting for a customer to visit your website through search engines or see your commercial on television. You and your business can be reaching out to potential customers anytime you are going on the road. The possible leads from this mobile exposure’s almost limitless.

5. Cost Effective

A lot of advertising comes with consistent costs that recur every month, but not vehicle wraps. You’re able to change these wraps to suit your needs and budget. It’s possible to make an investment at the beginning that’s minute when compared with other types of long-term ad campaigns and you’ll generate results you can see for many years.

6. Local Advertising

Advertising with vehicle wraps will be targeted since you’re advertising to the local market. Those people who are seeing your company’s vehicle wrap are the ones who live in your vicinity. There are outstanding results from local marketing since people enjoy dealing with businesses nearby.

7. Protection

Vehicle wraps made of vinyl help with protecting the body of your vehicle from small dents and scratches caused by road debris. Specialists are also able to remove the vehicle wraps made from vinyl easily without damaging your paint. They can help with keeping your vehicles in much better condition for when you’re getting rid of them either through trade or sale.

Other than having an additional expense for advertising, there really are no downsides when you use vehicle wraps to advertise your business. A lot of business owners discover they’re recouping the initial expense because their business is getting so much exposure. Vehicle wraps are a great way that you can stand out from the competition and reach a much wider audience.

NAPLES, FL – ATTN: Commercial Real Estate Agents – Signs the Times are Changing

This article is for commercial real estate agents and commercial real estate companies who might need updated signage.  If you aren’t sure if your signage has become outdated, we have a few ‘signs’ listed below to help you determine whether or not it’s time to update your signage.

Your competition’s signage has changed.

Most commercial real estate signs are pretty simple and straightforward, like the ones in the pictures featured in this article. But advances in signage technology have made it easy to think outside the box and build signs that are more attractive, higherimage(1) resolution and that feature custom shapes, all in an effort to make sure that the signs get noticed.

Your web address is not on your signs.

Some of our commercial real estate clients have preferred to keep their signs simple and only list a company name and phone number. For internal reasons, these clients prefer to have inquiries come in via the phone. But with the whole world becoming digitized so fast, it’s quite possible you could be missing out on business just by not having your web address listed. People want to take a look and check things out on their own terms, and then make a decision, and part of establishing your credibility with today’s commercial real estate market is having a website. If your web address isn’t on your signs, they may not find it.

Your email address, a QR code, or “Text for Info” is not on your signs.

Are you utilizing the latest technoloimage(2)gy to help you sell your properties? We can add your email address, a QR code, or “Text for Info” numbers on your signs to make you easy to reach by potential buyers, tenants, or investors. The easier you are to reach, the more business you can close.

At Spectrum Signworks, we manufacture your signs right here in our facility in North Naples. We can install them at your commercial site quickly and we also offer removal and storage. Let us put together a custom sign package for your commercial real estate business.

If you have questions about commercial real estate signs, or any other types of signs, please give us a call!

Custom Vehicle Graphic Wrap for SOHO Kitchen & Designs in Naples, FL

soho 1Project: Custom Trailer Wrap

Client: SOHO Kitchens & Design

Location: Naples, FL

SOHO Kitchens recently contacted us to fabricate and install a vehicle wrap for their work trailer. They were looking for someone local to fabricate a design that will get noticed and generate leads. In the pictures in this article you can see the vehicle graphic wrap we created for them.

To begin making the wrap, we printed the design onto a vinyl material. After making the vinyl graphics we must prep the trailer and clean it so the graphics are applied smoothly. This is to ensure that the vinyl graphics are applied to a clean surface, avoiding any bubbles or other unsightly problems.

We asked them to provide their logo but came to the quick conclusion that the logo must be converted into a vector file. We had our team of graphic designers make a file that will not lose resolution when we make it bigger, ant not lose detail. This is a key step in the process to begin the design of the trailer, and this rule applies to just about any big graphic sign. We rely on vector conversion to make sure the final result look professional.

Some of the different businesses that use vehicle graphics to advertise sales are home service companies, house cleaning businesses, energy drink suppliers, and home real estate brokers. This type of promotion is great for any business, you are moving signage, which helps to reinforce brand identity to the public and attract potential customers.

Benefits of advertising your service with vehicle graphics are being mobile and getting noticed. Cost per impression can not only make sure you get seen, but by many people at the same time. This is a great option for companies to make a good first impression while traveling from job to job. In this case, SOHO Kitchens and Designs can benefit from neighbor’s interest when parked in front of a local restoration property.

We also recently completed a vehicle wrap for AFK Flooring and Kitchens LLC.

At Spectrum Signworks, we are a full service sign and graphic design company located in Naples, FL, we also provide signage services to Lee and Collier Counties. If you have any questions, or have an idea for a sign project, feel free to contact us. We would be happy to provide a free quote for vehicle graphics or any other of our signage services.

Choosing the Right Custom Office Lobby Sign – Naples, FL

Lighted-lobby-signAre you searching for a custom lobby sign maker or company in Florida?

Lobby signs are a great way to make your lobby, offices or waiting room come to life!  At Spectrum Signworks LLC, we can work with your existing artwork, or start from scratch, and create a great looking sign that will impress your clients and customers.  We specialize in custom lobby signs, but we can make just about any kind of sign that you might want for your business.

If you’re looking for something a little more flashy, then we suggest an illuminated lobby sign, like the one seen in the picture above.  This custom LED lobby sign has a lot of impact, yet can still pull off being subtle and sleek.  We typically install these types of lobby signs with standoffs because they make the sign stand a few inches off the wall, giving the sign more of a three-dimensional look, as well as creating a throw distance for the lights if the sign is back-lit.

Dimensional letter signs are another type of lobby sign that can create a high-end look, but are typically much more affordable.  Dimensional letters come in all different shapes, fonts, materials and sizes.  They can be fabricated from acrylic, but coated with metal brushed finishes to create the look of solid metals at a fraction of the price.  You can see a picture of a dimensional letter lobby sign in the picture below.

dimensional lettersIf you’re looking for a great local company to create a custom lobby sign, we would be more than happy to come out and visit you at your business, and see what we can do for you.  Our goal is to create an amazing looking sign that you will be proud of.  Whether it’s an LED sign, dimensional letter sign, or any other kind a lobby sign, we can help.
