6 Tips for Creating Window Displays
When you have a business, you want to catch the attention of people who are walking or driving by. This is often accomplished by creating eye-catching window displays, often accompanied by window graphics. Below are six tips that you can use to decorate your store’s windows and bring more customers in.
Effective Window Displays with Window Graphics
1. Use Your Products to Tell Your Visual Story
Create a window display that will turn heads and get your business noticed using the goods that you sell. This can be very effective and because it can help people see what you sell before they even step into your business. You can also emphasize your products with the use of vinyl window graphics, promoting your business name or the most popular items you sell. Be sure of proper placement of your vinyl graphics so that they emphasize rather than block the items you display.
2. Keep all Focal Points at Customers’ Eye level
Whether they’re hanging from your ceiling, stacked like a pyramid or they’re put on a pedestal you should make sure that your customers can see your merchandise without tilting their head or looking down. Stand outside the store and look into your store’s window. Mark your focal point on your window with tape. This is going to help you with determining where the display items should be placed so that passersby get maximum exposure.
3. Emphasize your Message with Window Graphics
You’ve already determined the height at which your customers will see your merchandise. What about your window graphics? Place supporting window graphics accordingly. Chances are, your window graphics are not meant to be viewed from the same perspective as your merchandise. The merchandise is meant to be viewed by pedestrians or from very close by. Window graphics, on the other hand, are usually meant to be viewed from the road or from the parking lot as customers drive by. Be sure your window graphics won’t be blocking your merchandise, but emphasizing it.
4. Make an Impression That’s Quick
You only have about 2.5 seconds in order to grab the attention of a shopper. So you should make sure that any display’s well-lit and attractive. Remember that if you don’t have the light on during the daytime, people who are walking by your store may not be able to see the items in it because of the glare.
5. Regularly Change Displays in Windows
If you’re busy you may not put this on the top of your priority list. But even when your display is well-crafted you should make sure that you are keeping it updated. You should make a change every couple of weeks. This can be as much as moving the merchandise around or changing something out. Of course, when the seasons change too you should update your window. Think about using temporary window graphics to advertise a sale or special event. Temporary window graphics can be easily updated.
6. Turn Your Large Storefront Window into a Billboard
If you don’t need to display merchandise in your window, consider some window film that grabs the attention of passersby to decorate your window. These vinyl films are perforated and they look like huge posters when someone is driving past. But the perforated effect will still allow natural light to come into your store. Businesses that have windows with large panes can easily create murals that are eye-catching and that will attract those who are driving past.
Remember that you should appeal to the senses of your customers. Think about the things that attract you to other businesses and use those same concepts to create your own perfect display. You can also ask your friends and family members what they like to see when they go to a store and something in the window catches their eyes. It’s always good to have a second opinion.
